Scholarships
SCHOLARSHIPS
Two scholarships are available to any member of a burn team who is a non-physician. However, Resident “physician–in–training” members of a burn team who wish to present on a burn or wound care related topic, are exempt from the above stated rule and may apply for one. Scholarship Applications must be received by November 15, 2022. Winners will be notified at least 30 days prior to the annual meeting.

NABS offers two (2) scholarships to anyone who is:
- a non-physician member of a burn team
- a physician-in-training
- an individual interested in becoming a NABS member
Each scholarship is for $500.00 and includes up to an additional $300.00 of travel expenses (documented by receipts). It is expected that the applicant will be the primary author and presenter, and will have had substantial input into the collection and interpretation of the results. The content may have been previously submitted to, or presented at, another meeting. A scholarship may be awarded to the same individual no more than once every three (3) years. Presenters should plan on 15-20 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
One of the annual scholarships is designated as The David Beesinger Traveling Scholarship in honor of David Beesinger, MD, the original president of the North American Burn Society.
To be considered for one of the scholarships, please submit the following items:
- Scholarship application form
- Abstract on the attached form or as a separate sheet
- Annual meeting registration and payment
All applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. The chosen abstract(s) and its author/presenter will receive the above stated monetary awards during the business meeting session of the annual conference. Each author/presenter of the chosen abstract(s) will be informed of the committee’s decision at least 30 days prior to the annual meeting.
